Vertical Line

Mark scheduled events (economic releases, earnings, expiry days) so you can see how price behaved before and after.

What it draws

Draws an infinite vertical line at a single point in time, spanning the full height of the chart. It is used to mark time-based events: news releases, session opens and closes, earnings dates, or the start of a pattern.

How to draw it

  1. Pick Vertical Line from the left toolbar (Lines group, or press Alt+V).
  2. One point: click at the desired bar and the line spans the full chart height. Drag it left or right to move it to another bar.

How traders use it

  • Mark scheduled events (economic releases, earnings, expiry days) so you can see how price behaved before and after.
  • Delimit session boundaries or the start of a measured move when studying intraday behavior.
  • Pair two vertical lines to isolate a study window — e.g. the range that formed during a specific session.
  • Anchor time-cycle counts: place lines at equal bar intervals from a major pivot to look for recurring turn timing.

Double-click the drawing (or use its floating toolbar → gear) to open settings:

Editing & managing

  • Move / adjust: drag the drawing or any anchor handle; magnet mode snaps points to OHLC values.
  • Clone / lock / hide / delete from the floating toolbar or right-click menu.
  • Templates: save the current style from the settings dialog and reapply it to new drawings.
  • Every action is undoable (⌘Z / Ctrl+Z).

Watch out for

  • A vertical line marks time, not price — it says nothing about levels, so avoid reading support/resistance meaning into it.
