Drawing Tools Basics

Place, edit and organise all 87 drawing tools — magnet snapping, Ctrl multi-select, per-interval visibility, style templates and the object tree.

The left rail

Drawing tools live on the 55-px rail down the left edge, grouped by purpose: Cursor, Lines (lines, channels, pitchforks), Fibonacci (fibs and Gann), Patterns (harmonics, Elliott waves, cycles), Projections (positions, forecast, volume-based, measurers), Shapes (brushes, arrows, geometry), Text & Notes, Emojis, Stickers & Icons, and Measure.

Each group button shows the icon of the tool you last used from it; click the button to arm that tool again, or click the caret that appears on hover (right-click and long-press work too) to open the full flyout. Star any tool in a flyout and a gold Favorites group appears at the top of the rail collecting your starred set.

Place your first trend line

Press Alt+T (or pick Trend Line from the Lines group), click the start point, click the end point. That's the pattern for nearly everything: one click per anchor. Escape abandons a half-placed drawing; holding Shift snaps line angles to 15° steps.

A few tools break the click-click mold: Brush and Highlighter are freehand drags, Long Position and Short Position drop a full entry/stop/target box from a single click, and multi-point tools like Polyline finish on double-click.

By default the tool disarms after each drawing. The Stay in Drawing Mode toggle near the bottom of the rail keeps it armed for repeated placement.

Magnet snapping

The magnet button (bottom of the rail) offers two modes: Weak Magnet snaps your point to the nearest open/high/low/close only when you're within 50 pixels of it; Strong Magnet always snaps. Clicking the active mode turns the magnet off. Whatever your setting, holding Ctrl (Cmd on Mac) mid-placement forces a strong snap for as long as you hold it.

Editing what you drew

Click a drawing to select it. A floating toolbar appears with the essentials — line color (plus fill color and opacity on area tools), width, line style, lock, templates, settings, delete — and it's draggable if it's in your way.

Double-click the drawing (or hit its gear) for the full Format dialog: Style for tool-specific options, Text where applicable, Coordinates to type exact price/time anchors, and Visibility — per-interval checkboxes from Ticks through Months, each with an optional range, so a weekly Fib Retracement can hide itself on your intraday charts. Edits preview live; Cancel reverts everything, including moved points.

Drag any handle to reshape, drag the body to move — with Shift locking movement to one axis. Arrow keys nudge a selected drawing one bar or one price unit at a time.

Selecting many

Multi-select uses Ctrl, not Shift: Ctrl+click toggles drawings in and out of the selection, and Ctrl+drag on empty space rubber-bands everything inside the rectangle (locked drawings are skipped). A multi-selection drags together and deletes as a single undo step. Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V copy and paste the selected drawing, and every action — placement, edit, delete, style change — flows through undo/redo.

Templates and defaults

Right-click a drawing for Save as Default (new drawings of that tool inherit its style), Save Template As… (a named style you choose deliberately), and Apply Template…. Saved templates surface in two places: the floating toolbar's bookmark menu, and a My Templates group at the top of the rail that arms the tool pre-styled.

Housekeeping

The bottom of the rail rounds out the workflow:

  • Lock all drawings — one toggle to freeze everything against stray drags.
  • Show / Hide — a menu with Hide drawings, Hide indicators and Hide all (keyboard: Ctrl+Alt+H for drawings).
  • Remove objects — Remove N drawings, Remove N indicators, or both; destructive rows ask you to click a second time to confirm.

For surgical work, open the Object Tree from the right sidebar: every indicator and drawing listed with show/hide, lock and remove buttons, and clicking a row selects that drawing on the chart — the only way to grab one that's locked.

The drawing reference documents each of the 87 tools individually — anchors, settings tables and trading usage.
