Gann Square

Use the internal price divisions (especially 1/2 and the 3/8–5/8 band) as the retracement grid for the squared swing.

What it draws

Draws a square over a selected swing and subdivides it with horizontal, vertical, and diagonal lines at Gann fractions (1/8ths or quarters), mapping the swing's price range against its duration. Level-crossing points and diagonals mark where price and time are 'squared' — Gann's condition for trend change.

How to draw it

  1. Pick Gann Square from the left toolbar (Gann group).
  2. Two points: click the swing start, then the swing end; the square and its internal fan of divisions are drawn over that price-time range.

How traders use it

  • Use the internal price divisions (especially 1/2 and the 3/8–5/8 band) as the retracement grid for the squared swing.
  • Watch where the corner diagonals intersect the price divisions — these price-time crossings are the tool's candidate turning points.
  • When price reaches the square's far time edge without breaking its price extremes, expect a resolution move as the cycle 'runs out of time'.
  • Stack squares end-to-end along a trend to project recurring cycle lengths taken from the first measured swing.

Editing & managing

  • Move / adjust: drag the drawing or any anchor handle; magnet mode snaps points to OHLC values.
  • Clone / lock / hide / delete from the floating toolbar or right-click menu.
  • Templates: save the current style from the settings dialog and reapply it to new drawings.
  • Every action is undoable (⌘Z / Ctrl+Z).

Watch out for

  • Squaring price with time only means something under a consistent scaling convention — resized charts and cherry-picked swings let you find a 'square-out' almost anywhere.
