Bar Replay

Rewind the chart and trade it forward — pick a start bar, control speed and step size, drop to 1-minute stepping, and review a full session report.

Start a session

Click the Replay pill in the header (it sits with undo/redo). The chart enters pick mode: a dashed vertical line follows your cursor with a small time badge, everything to its right is shaded, and one click on a bar truncates the chart to that moment. Escape backs out of pick mode; the replay toolbar appears bottom-centre.

If you left a session unfinished on this symbol and interval, the button instead offers Continue from your last position or Start a new session.

Don't want to click a bar? The chevron next to Select bar has three alternatives: Select date (type YYYY-MM-DD, optionally with a time — the chart pages back through history to reach it), Select the first available day, and Random bar, which is the honest way to practice without hindsight.

The toolbar

Control What it does
Select bar ⌄ Re-pick the start point, any of the four ways
Back / Play / Forward Step or run; Shift+←, Shift+↓, Shift+→
1x Speed — 0.1x, 0.3x, 0.5x, 1x, 3x or 10x, in bars per second
D Step interval — how far Forward and Play advance per step
Jump to real-time Fast-forwards to now and ends the session
Gear Replay Trading settings
✕ Exit replay

Speed changes take effect mid-play. In a multi-chart layout the toolbar grows a This chart / All charts switch; with All charts, every cell replays in sync with the one driving.

Stepping finer than the chart

The step interval defaults to the chart's own bars, with coarser choices (5m, 15m, 30m, 1h, D, W) available on faster charts — stepping a 5-minute chart by 1h reveals twelve bars at a time.

The interesting direction is down: on any chart above 1-minute you can select a 1m step. The current bar then builds in front of you as a partial candle, minute by minute — the closest thing to watching the bar form live. The 1-minute data comes from your feed on demand; if it isn't available for that stretch, the chart says so and falls back to whole bars. Tick-by-tick replay doesn't exist.

What replay does to the rest of the chart

The session runs on a snapshot: live ticks keep arriving but never leak into the replayed view. You can change interval freely — the session re-seeks to the same moment and keeps playing. Changing the symbol or the chart type ends the session, and replay refuses to start at all on synthetic types (Renko, Kagi, Line Break, Point & Figure, Range bars, Footprint, Session Volume Profile, TPO). Playback pauses automatically at the end of data; reaching real time ends the session, the same as the jump button.

Indicators, drawings and alerts all work against the truncated series — a good way to watch how a Supertrend flip or a Long Position plan would actually have unfolded.

Replay Trading

Trading is on by default: picking a start point spins up a simulated broker account named Replay Trading, and the normal trading UI — buy/sell buttons, order tickets, position lines, brackets — works against replayed prices. Market orders fill at the current replay close; limits and stops trigger bar by bar as you reveal them, and when one bar touches both a target and a stop, the stop wins — the engine is deliberately pessimistic. Stepping back never un-fills an order.

The toolbar gear sets Initial capital (default 10,00,000), Base currency, Commission / order, Commission %, Default quantity and a Trader name for the report. Trailing stops are the one order type not supported.

The session report

Exit with any trades on the book and the summary appears: Net P&L, Success Rate and Profit Factor up front, with Open performance report expanding into two tabs — Overview (gross profit/loss, long/short win rates, average long/short profit, consecutive wins) and List of Trade, every closed trade with entry, exit, size, P&L and return. Export CSV hands you the whole thing, session metadata included: drawdown, expectancy, largest win and loss, and more.

After the session ends, the Replay Trading account stays visible (frozen) so you can keep browsing its trades — results are not persisted across sessions, so export before you close if the numbers matter to you.
