TradingCharts

Quick Start

Open your first chart, find your way around the header, drawing rail and status bar, and get a trade-ready setup working in about five minutes.

The screen, top to bottom

TradingCharts puts everything you need in four fixed regions around the plot:

  1. Header — symbol search, compare, intervals, chart types, the fx Indicators button, indicator templates, undo/redo, the Replay pill, and (right-aligned) layout save, screenshot, theme toggle, Quick Search, settings gear and fullscreen.
  2. Left rail — the drawing toolbar: 87 tools in nine groups, plus a Favorites group that appears once you star a tool.
  3. Chart area — the price pane, any indicator panes below it (up to 8 panes total), and a hover-revealed navigation strip at the bottom centre with Zoom In/Out, Scroll Left/Right, Reset and — once you've scrolled into history — Go to latest bar.
  4. Status bar — range shortcuts (5Y 3Y 1Y 6M 3M 1M 1W 1D) on the left, a live clock and the % / log / auto scale toggles on the right.

Pick a symbol

Click the symbol name at the top-left, or — faster — just start typing anywhere on the chart. Any letter opens the search dialog pre-filled with what you typed. Arrow keys move through results, Enter loads one.

The + button beside the symbol adds a comparison series; each compared symbol gets its own removable badge in the header.

Set the interval

Three ways, from slowest to fastest:

  • Open the interval dropdown in the header. It lists everything from 1 second to 12 months, organised under collapsible SECONDS / MINUTES / HOURS / DAYS / WEEKS / MONTHS headers.
  • Hover any row and click its star to pin it. Pinned intervals (up to 7) become one-click buttons right in the header.
  • Type a number on the chart. A small "Change interval" box opens; 5 ⏎ gives you 5 minutes, 4H, D, W and friends work too.

The full tour — including custom intervals and go-to-date — is in Timeframes & History.

Choose a chart type

The chart-type menu sits next to the intervals. Candles is the default; the menu covers 22 types from Heikin Ashi and Renko to the OrderFlow Footprint and TPO. Types can be starred and pinned exactly like intervals (up to 5). Keyboard users get Alt+1 through Alt+9 for the nine most common types — Alt+1 is candles, Alt+5 is line.

Start with the chart types overview if you're unsure which suits your style.

Add an indicator or two

Click the fx button in the header, or press /. Search, then click a result — the picker stays open so you can add several in one visit. Each indicator gets a legend row in the top-left of its pane; hover it for hide, settings, remove and a more-menu.

A classic first setup: a Simple Moving Average on price and RSI in a pane below. Full walkthrough: Adding & Configuring Indicators.

Draw on the chart

Pick a tool from the left rail — or press Alt+T for a Trend Line — then click the anchor points on the chart. Escape cancels a half-finished drawing; Delete removes a selected one. The magnet button near the bottom of the rail snaps your clicks to open/high/low/close values, and holding Ctrl (Cmd on Mac) forces a strong snap temporarily.

See Drawing Tools Basics for selection, styling and templates.

Nothing you do is fragile

Every drawing and indicator action goes through undo/redo — the header arrows or Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z. Ctrl+S (⌘S) saves the layout. The camera icon takes a screenshot, the half-circle icon flips between dark and light themes, and Ctrl+K opens Quick Search — a command palette that can jump to almost any action or setting by name when you can't remember where it lives.

From here, the natural next stops are Chart Settings & Appearance and Keyboard & Mouse.
