Adding & Configuring Indicators

Add any of 182 built-in studies from the fx picker, tune inputs and style, manage panes and visual order from the legend, and save indicator templates.

Open the picker

Click the fx icon in the header, or press / with the chart focused. The picker is a single searchable list with four tabs across the top: All (with a total count), Fav, Overlays — studies drawn on the price pane — and Oscillators, which get their own pane. On the All tab with an empty search you'll also see a RECENTLY USED section holding your last few additions.

Clicking a result adds it immediately and keeps the dialog open, so stacking a Supertrend, an RSI and a MACD is three clicks, not three round-trips. Arrow keys plus Enter do the same from the keyboard.

Search matches word starts and initials — bb finds Bollinger Bands, vwap finds VWAP.

Favourites

Every row carries a star. Starred indicators float to the top of every tab and populate Fav; the choice persists across sessions. You can also star from the chart later — the legend's more-menu has Add to favorites.

Reading the legend

Each study gets a row in the top-left of its pane: a color accent, the name, its arguments in muted text (20 close), and the live plot values. With more than five studies the rows collapse behind an Indicators toggle with a count.

Hover a row and the action buttons appear, in order: hide (eye), settings (gear), remove (trash) and more (⋯). Oscillator rows add collapse/expand and Merge with pane above; a merged study gets Separate into own pane. On touch, tap the row to reveal the buttons.

Inputs and style

The gear opens the indicator's dialog — two tabs, Inputs and Style (Inputs is skipped when a study has no parameters).

Inputs covers lengths, sources, sessions, and — where a study supports it — a symbol field with its own search button and a timeframe selector, which is how multi-timeframe studies are configured.

Style is per-plot: visibility, color, plot type (Line, Step Line, Line With Breaks, Histogram, Area, Circles, Cross), width 1–4 and line style, plus sections for palette colors and fills where the study has them. An OUTPUTS section at the bottom holds Precision, Labels on price scale, Values in status line and Inputs in status line.

The footer's Defaults button restores the factory definition in one click; Ok commits, Cancel reverts. Every change previews live while the dialog is open.

The more menu

The ⋯ button is where organisational power lives:

  • Visual order — bring forward/backward, to front/back, and whether the study renders behind or in front of the main series.
  • Visibility on intervals — all intervals, current only, current and above, or current and below. Handy for keeping a daily pivot study off your 1-minute chart.
  • Move to — send an overlay to its own pane, move an oscillator to a new pane above/below, into an existing pane, or onto the main pane.
  • Pin to scale — same as the main series, the left or right scale, or no scale.
  • Copy — duplicates the study with its current settings.

Panes cap at eight; past that, new oscillators join the last pane rather than creating another.

Indicator templates

Once a set of studies earns its keep, save it: the four-square icon next to fx in the header opens the Indicator Templates menu. Save Indicator template... prompts for a name and offers two checkboxes — Remember symbol and Remember interval. Applying a template replaces the current studies with the saved set (one undo step, so it's reversible), and restores the symbol/interval only if you ticked those boxes. Drawings and chart appearance are untouched.

What's in the box

182 built-ins ship with the library — 81 overlays and 101 oscillators, from moving averages and Ichimoku Cloud to orderflow-fed studies like Volume Delta and Cumulative Volume Delta. The complete indicator reference documents every one: each input with its default and range, every plot, and usage notes.
