What it does
A Moving Average Channel plots one moving average of the highs and another of the lows over the same period, creating a channel that tracks the typical bar range. The upper band is the average high, the lower band the average low, and price's position relative to the channel defines trend and pullback zones. It is a simple envelope that derives its width from actual highs and lows rather than a fixed percentage.
How to add it
Click Indicators (ƒx) in the header.
Search “Moving Average Channel” and click the result.
Hover its legend row and click the gear to open settings.
How traders use it
- Price holding above the upper band (the average high) signals a strong uptrend; below the lower band, a strong downtrend.
- In an uptrend, pullbacks into the channel — especially to the lower band — are buy zones; in downtrends rallies to the upper band are sell zones.
- A close through the far band after a trend (e.g., below the lower band after an uptrend) is a practical trend-change trigger.
- The channel midline acts as an equilibrium; repeated failures to cross it confirm the prevailing side's control.
- Combine with momentum confirmation at the bands to avoid buying every touch in a deteriorating trend.

Tips
- Use Add to favorites in the legend menu; starred studies surface at the top of the picker.
- The legend eye toggles it off without losing your settings — handy for before/after comparisons.
- Its price-scale label can be switched off per-indicator at the bottom of the Style tab if the axis gets crowded.
Watch out for
- In ranges price oscillates through the entire channel constantly, making band touches meaningless without a trend filter.
- Both bands are lagging averages, so the channel shifts late after sharp reversals.
