Moving Average Multiple

A ribbon fanned out in order with all lines sloping one way marks a strong trend; trade only in that direction.

What it does

Moving Average Multiple plots a ribbon of many moving averages (commonly six or more) of stepped lengths on one chart. The visual pattern of the ribbon — stacked and fanned versus tangled — shows trend direction, strength and consolidation at a glance. It generalizes double and triple MA analysis into a continuous picture.

How to add it

Click Indicators (ƒx) in the header.

Search “Moving Average Multiple” and click the result.

Hover its legend row and click the gear to open settings.

How traders use it

  • A ribbon fanned out in order with all lines sloping one way marks a strong trend; trade only in that direction.
  • Ribbon compression (lines converging into a tight band) marks consolidation; a price break out of the compressed ribbon is a strong expansion signal.
  • Pullbacks that hold in the upper half of a bullish ribbon are continuation entries; a full pierce through the ribbon warns of reversal.
  • The order of the lines flipping from fastest-on-top to slowest-on-top (or vice versa) is a slow but reliable trend-change confirmation.
  • Use ribbon width as a strength gauge: widening equals accelerating trend, narrowing equals fading momentum.

Tips

  • The legend eye toggles it off without losing your settings — handy for before/after comparisons.
  • Its price-scale label can be switched off per-indicator at the bottom of the Style tab if the axis gets crowded.
  • Drag the indicator to its own pane from the legend ⋯ menu if it crowds the price chart.

Watch out for

  • Many overlapping lags make the ribbon very slow to admit a reversal, and early turns are fully missed.
  • In choppy markets the ribbon stays tangled and gives little usable information beyond 'stand aside'.
