Dext Prev Day OHLC

Treat the previous day's high and low as the primary breakout and reversal levels; acceptance beyond them signals range extension, rejection signals a return to balance.

What it does

Plots the previous trading day's open, high, low and close as horizontal reference lines extended across the current session. These four prices are among the most widely watched intraday levels because unfinished business from the prior day frequently gets tested, defended or rejected the next day. The study saves traders from drawing the lines manually every morning.

How traders use it

  • Treat the previous day's high and low as the primary breakout and reversal levels; acceptance beyond them signals range extension, rejection signals a return to balance.
  • An open above the prior close carries an overnight bullish bias; watch whether early trade holds above the prior close or fails back through it.
  • The prior close acts as the session's sentiment line: sustained trade above it keeps the day tilted bullish, below it bearish.
  • Fade tactics work at the prior high/low when the approach is slow and stretched; momentum tactics work when price arrives fast with expanding range.

This indicator has no configurable inputs — it works out of the box.

Plots & styling

Plot Style Default color
Open line #FFEB3B
High line #4CAF50
Low line #F44336
Close line #05B878

Every plot's color, line width and visibility can be changed on the Style tab. Precision, price-scale labels and status-line values are configurable at the bottom of the Style tab.

Tips

  • The legend eye toggles it off without losing your settings — handy for before/after comparisons.
  • Its price-scale label can be switched off per-indicator at the bottom of the Style tab if the axis gets crowded.
  • Drag the indicator to its own pane from the legend ⋯ menu if it crowds the price chart.

Watch out for

  • These are reference levels, not signals; they define locations where decisions should be made, and each level fails as often as it holds.
  • On large-gap days the prior day's levels can be too far away to matter for much of the session.
