What it does
The Triple Exponential Moving Average (TEMA) extends the DEMA idea one level further: it combines an EMA, the EMA of that EMA, and the EMA of the EMA of the EMA as 3xEMA1 minus 3xEMA2 plus EMA3. This composition cancels even more lag, giving one of the fastest-reacting smoothed lines available. It hugs price tightly while still filtering out the smallest wiggles.
How to add it
Click Indicators (ƒx) in the header.
Search “Triple EMA” and click the result.
Hover its legend row and click the gear to open settings.
How traders use it
- Use it as a near-real-time trend line for momentum trading, entering when price closes across the TEMA in the direction of the larger trend.
- Trade TEMA crossovers with a longer moving average for early trend-change entries.
- Watch the slope: TEMA turning while a slower average is still flat is an early heads-up of a shift in short-term momentum.
- Scalpers use short TEMAs (9 to 21) on intraday charts where a normal EMA would lag too much.

Tips
- Double-click any of its lines to jump straight into the settings dialog.
- Save the configured chart as a study template (Indicators menu) to reapply this exact setup elsewhere.
- Right-click the indicator's line for quick actions — settings, visibility and removal without hunting through menus.
Watch out for
- Its speed makes it the most whipsaw-prone of the EMA family in ranging conditions; it needs a trend filter.
- Like DEMA it can overshoot price briefly after violent moves, giving misleading extremes.
