What it does
Price Volume Trend (PVT) is a cumulative volume line similar to On Balance Volume, but instead of adding or subtracting full volume it adds volume scaled by the bar's percentage price change. Each bar contributes volume times (close minus prior close) divided by prior close, added to the running total. A 1 percent rally on heavy volume therefore moves PVT far more than a 0.1 percent drift on the same volume, making it more proportional than OBV.
How to add it
Click Indicators (ƒx) in the header.
Search “Price Volume Trend” and click the result.
Hover its legend row and click the gear to open settings.
How traders use it
- Confirm trends: PVT rising with price shows volume-weighted money flow backing the advance; both breaking out together strengthens the signal.
- Divergences are the main signal: price making new highs while PVT flattens or falls warns the move is running on thin participation.
- A signal-line approach, crossing PVT against its own moving average, converts the cumulative line into tradeable momentum shifts.
- Prefer PVT over OBV when you want small drift days to matter less and large percentage moves to matter more.
Inputs
This indicator has no configurable inputs — it works out of the box.

Tips
- Reference levels (where the study has them) are editable — tune them to the instrument you're trading.
- Hide the study from the legend eye instead of removing it when you only want it out of the way temporarily.
- Merge multiple oscillators into one pane from the legend ⋯ menu to compare them on a shared axis.
Watch out for
- As a cumulative series its absolute value is arbitrary; only slope and divergence matter, and divergences can persist far longer than expected.
- It inherits full dependence on volume quality and treats gaps only through close-to-close change, blending overnight and intraday activity.
