What it does
Automatically scans each bar for classical candlestick formations — doji, hammer, shooting star, engulfing patterns, harami, morning and evening stars, three white soldiers and more — and labels them on the chart. Detection follows the textbook geometric definitions of body and wick proportions and multi-bar relationships. It turns candlestick literacy into on-chart annotations so setups are not missed.

How to add it
Click Indicators (ƒx) in the header.
Search “Dext Candlestick Patterns” and click the result.
Hover its legend row and click the gear to open settings.
How traders use it
- Only act on patterns at meaningful locations: a hammer at tested support or an evening star at resistance carries weight; the same pattern mid-range is noise.
- Reversal patterns need a prior trend to reverse — an engulfing bar inside sideways chop is not a signal.
- Wait for confirmation, typically the next bar closing in the pattern's direction, before entering.
- Combine with volume: reversal patterns forming on elevated volume are markedly more reliable.
- Use the pattern bar's extreme as the natural stop location.

Every plot's color, line width and visibility can be changed on the Style tab. Precision, price-scale labels and status-line values are configurable at the bottom of the Style tab.
Tips
- Its price-scale label can be switched off per-indicator at the bottom of the Style tab if the axis gets crowded.
- Drag the indicator to its own pane from the legend ⋯ menu if it crowds the price chart.
- Double-click any of its lines to jump straight into the settings dialog.
Watch out for
- Automated detection fires frequently, and most tagged patterns fail without confluence; the labels are candidates, not trades.
- Strict geometric definitions differ across sources, so the scanner may tag borderline formations a discretionary trader would ignore, or miss ones they would take.
