Dext Moving Average Colored 6 EMA Multiple

Full bullish stacking of all six EMAs (fastest above slowest) confirms an established uptrend; full bearish stacking confirms a downtrend.

What it does

Plots a ribbon of six exponential moving averages of increasing lengths, with each line (or the ribbon fill) colored by its slope or by the ribbon's overall alignment. When the EMAs are stacked in order — shortest on top in an uptrend, shortest at the bottom in a downtrend — the market is cleanly trending; when they braid together the market is congested. It is a classic EMA-ribbon trend visualization packaged with automatic coloring.

How traders use it

  • Full bullish stacking of all six EMAs (fastest above slowest) confirms an established uptrend; full bearish stacking confirms a downtrend.
  • The ribbon compressing and braiding signals consolidation — stand aside or switch to range tactics until it fans out again.
  • Use pullbacks into the middle of a stacked ribbon as trend-continuation entry zones, with stops beyond the slowest EMA.
  • The fastest pair crossing while the slower EMAs remain stacked flags a pullback rather than a reversal; a full re-ordering flags genuine trend change.

Every plot's color, line width and visibility can be changed on the Style tab. Precision, price-scale labels and status-line values are configurable at the bottom of the Style tab.

Tips

  • Its price-scale label can be switched off per-indicator at the bottom of the Style tab if the axis gets crowded.
  • Drag the indicator to its own pane from the legend ⋯ menu if it crowds the price chart.
  • Double-click any of its lines to jump straight into the settings dialog.

Watch out for

  • Six overlapping averages lag by construction; full ribbon flips confirm trends late, often after a large part of the move.
  • In sideways markets the ribbon produces constant partial crosses and color churn with no tradeable information.
