What it does
Plots a volume-weighted average price starting from a user-chosen anchor point — a swing high or low, an earnings or event bar, a breakout day — rather than from the session open, along with standard-deviation bands around it. The anchored VWAP shows the average price paid by every participant since that event, making it a running poll of who is in profit, and the bands show how stretched price is from that consensus. It is widely used to track institutional cost bases from significant turning points.
How to add it
Click Indicators (ƒx) in the header.
Search “Dext Anchored VWAP With Bands” and click the result.
Hover its legend row and click the gear to open settings.
How traders use it
- Anchor from a major swing low: while price holds above that anchored VWAP the buyers from the low remain in profit and dips to the line are buyable; losing it shifts control.
- Anchor from a swing high for the mirror logic in downtrends, treating rallies into the line as supply.
- Use the first standard-deviation band pair as normal oscillation territory and the second or third bands as stretched zones for fading or profit-taking.
- Confluence of two anchored VWAPs (for example from the last major high and low) pinpoints decision zones where trends are won or lost.
- After events like results, anchor at the event bar to track whether post-event buyers are being defended.

Tips
- Drag the indicator to its own pane from the legend ⋯ menu if it crowds the price chart.
- Double-click any of its lines to jump straight into the settings dialog.
- Save the configured chart as a study template (Indicators menu) to reapply this exact setup elsewhere.
Watch out for
- The output depends entirely on anchor choice, which is subjective; two traders anchoring differently get different lines and conclusions.
- As bars accumulate, the VWAP and its bands become increasingly inert and slow to reflect recent trade.
