Disjoint Channel

Frame broadening formations (higher highs and lower lows) where a parallel channel cannot fit the expanding swings.

What it draws

Draws a channel whose two boundary lines have independent slopes, so the channel can widen or narrow over time instead of staying parallel. It is suited to megaphone (broadening) patterns and wedges where highs and lows trend at different rates.

How to draw it

  1. Pick Disjoint Channel from the left toolbar (Channels group).
  2. Three points: click the start and end of the first boundary, then a third point to set the second line, whose slope can then be adjusted independently via its handles.

How traders use it

  • Frame broadening formations (higher highs and lower lows) where a parallel channel cannot fit the expanding swings.
  • Frame converging wedges: a rising wedge (both lines up, converging) is a bearish exhaustion shape; a falling wedge is its bullish mirror.
  • Fade the extremes cautiously in a megaphone — swings grow, so size down and use wider stops than in a parallel channel.
  • Watch the apex of a converging disjoint channel: breakouts tend to occur before price fully reaches the apex.

Editing & managing

  • Move / adjust: drag the drawing or any anchor handle; magnet mode snaps points to OHLC values.
  • Clone / lock / hide / delete from the floating toolbar or right-click menu.
  • Templates: save the current style from the settings dialog and reapply it to new drawings.
  • Every action is undoable (⌘Z / Ctrl+Z).

Watch out for

  • Because each line bends to fit its own swings, a disjoint channel can be curve-fit to almost any price action — require at least two clean touches per line before trusting it.
