Gann Fan

The 1x1 line is the master reference: price above a rising 1x1 is a healthy bull trend, below it the trend is suspect by Gann's rules.

What it draws

Draws a fan of nine rays from a pivot at Gann's fixed price-to-time ratios: the central 1x1 line (one unit of price per unit of time, the 45-degree balance line) flanked by 2x1, 3x1, 4x1, 8x1 and 1x2, 1x3, 1x4, 1x8 lines. The fan grades trend strength by which angle contains price.

How to draw it

  1. Pick Gann Fan from the left toolbar (Gann group).
  2. Two points: click the pivot, then a second point to orient the 1x1 line; the remaining eight rays are drawn at their fixed ratios around it.

How traders use it

  • The 1x1 line is the master reference: price above a rising 1x1 is a healthy bull trend, below it the trend is suspect by Gann's rules.
  • Breaks migrate stepwise: losing the steep 2x1 often sends price to the 1x1, losing the 1x1 sends it toward 1x2 — each angle is the next support/resistance.
  • Steeper angles (2x1 and above) containing price indicate an unusually strong, possibly climactic trend; flatter angles (1x2, 1x3) indicate a mature, slow trend.
  • Use the 1x1 as a trailing reference for position trades: stay in while price closes above it, reassess on a decisive close below.

Editing & managing

  • Move / adjust: drag the drawing or any anchor handle; magnet mode snaps points to OHLC values.
  • Clone / lock / hide / delete from the floating toolbar or right-click menu.
  • Templates: save the current style from the settings dialog and reapply it to new drawings.
  • Every action is undoable (⌘Z / Ctrl+Z).

Watch out for

  • The 45-degree 1x1 only exists under a fixed price-per-bar scale — on an auto-scaled chart the fan's angles are arbitrary screen geometry, so calibrate the scale before trusting any Gann angle.
