Extended Line

Check whether a current trend line, extended backwards, also touched historical pivots — alignment with old highs/lows strengthens the level.

What it draws

Draws a straight line through two points that extends infinitely in both directions, backwards and forwards in time. It is useful for testing whether a diagonal level defined by recent swings also lines up with much older price action.

How to draw it

  1. Pick Extended Line from the left toolbar (Lines group).
  2. Two points: click any two points on the line's path; the line extends past both. Drag either handle to re-angle it.

How traders use it

  • Check whether a current trend line, extended backwards, also touched historical pivots — alignment with old highs/lows strengthens the level.
  • Project long-term channel boundaries in both directions when the true origin of the trend is off-screen.
  • Use it to find where a diagonal level intersected past congestion zones, hinting at where future reactions may occur.
  • Pair with a second extended line to frame a full historical channel.

Settings reference

Editing & managing

  • Move / adjust: drag the drawing or any anchor handle; magnet mode snaps points to OHLC values.
  • Clone / lock / hide / delete from the floating toolbar or right-click menu.
  • Templates: save the current style from the settings dialog and reapply it to new drawings.
  • Every action is undoable (⌘Z / Ctrl+Z).

Watch out for

  • An infinitely extended line will inevitably intersect lots of price action by chance — count only clean, respected touches as evidence, not every crossing.
