Fib Retracement

The 38.2%–61.8% band is the classic buy-the-dip zone in an uptrend; shallow trends hold 38.2%, normal ones 50%–61.8%.

What it draws

Draws horizontal levels at Fibonacci ratios (23.6%, 38.2%, 50%, 61.8%, 78.6%) of a selected price swing, measuring how far a pullback has retraced the move. It is the standard tool for locating likely pullback-ending zones within a trend.

How to draw it

  1. Pick Fib Retracement from the left toolbar (Fibonacci group, or press Alt+F).
  2. Two points: click the swing start (low of an up-move or high of a down-move), then the swing end. The levels are drawn across the retracement zone; drag either anchor to re-fit the swing.

How traders use it

  • The 38.2%–61.8% band is the classic buy-the-dip zone in an uptrend; shallow trends hold 38.2%, normal ones 50%–61.8%.
  • The 61.8% 'golden' level and 78.6% are last-line levels — reactions there are watched closely, and a clean break beyond 78.6% usually means full retest of the swing origin.
  • Look for confluence: a fib level that coincides with prior structure, a moving average, or a trend line is far more reliable than the ratio alone.
  • Place stops beyond the next fib level (or beyond the swing origin), and use the swing extreme or extensions beyond it as targets.

Reverse checkbox on/off off Flips the 0 and 1 anchors so the levels are measured in the opposite direction.
Show Coefficients checkbox on/off on Shows the ratio value (e.g. 0.618) in each level’s label.
Show Prices checkbox on/off on Shows the actual price of each level in its label.
Coefficients as % checkbox on/off off Displays level coefficients as percentages (61.8%) instead of ratios (0.618).
Show Trendline checkbox on/off on Draws the base trendline between the two anchor points.
Log Scale Levels checkbox on/off off Computes level prices logarithmically — matches the visual spacing when the price scale is logarithmic.

Editing & managing

  • Move / adjust: drag the drawing or any anchor handle; magnet mode snaps points to OHLC values.
  • Clone / lock / hide / delete from the floating toolbar or right-click menu.
  • Templates: save the current style from the settings dialog and reapply it to new drawings.
  • Every action is undoable (⌘Z / Ctrl+Z).

Watch out for

  • With five-plus levels on screen, price will always be 'near a fib' — without confluence and a reversal signal at the level, retracements are a map, not a trigger.
