Signpost

Mark scheduled events such as earnings, dividends, or economic releases at the bars where they occurred.

What it draws

The Signpost plants a labeled marker on a stem at a specific bar, like a small sign staked into the chart. It is designed for naming events on the timeline so a chart's history reads like an annotated story.

How to draw it

  1. Pick Signpost from the left toolbar (Text & Annotations group).
  2. Click on the bar where the signpost should stand, then type its label text and confirm. The sign sits on a stem above or below the bar and can be dragged to reposition.

How traders use it

  • Mark scheduled events such as earnings, dividends, or economic releases at the bars where they occurred.
  • Plant signposts at regime changes, for example 'broke 200-period average', to segment the chart's narrative.
  • Tag the start and end of a trade campaign so multi-week reviews are easy to navigate.

Settings reference

Double-click the drawing (or use its floating toolbar → gear) to open settings:

Editing & managing

  • Move / adjust: drag the drawing or any anchor handle; magnet mode snaps points to OHLC values.
  • Clone / lock / hide / delete from the floating toolbar or right-click menu.
  • Templates: save the current style from the settings dialog and reapply it to new drawings.
  • Every action is undoable (⌘Z / Ctrl+Z).

Watch out for

  • Several signposts on nearby bars will overlap into an unreadable cluster, so space them out or consolidate related events into one sign.
