Trend-Based Fib Extension

The 100% extension (measured move — next leg equals the first) is the most common first target for trend continuation trades.

What it draws

Projects Fibonacci extension levels (61.8%, 100%, 161.8%, 261.8% of the initial swing) forward from the end of a pullback, using three points: the swing start, swing end, and retracement end. It answers where the next leg of the trend may run to.

How to draw it

  1. Pick Trend-Based Fib Extension from the left toolbar (Fibonacci group).
  2. Three points: click the swing start, then the swing end, then the point where the retracement finished; extension levels project from the third point.

How traders use it

  • The 100% extension (measured move — next leg equals the first) is the most common first target for trend continuation trades.
  • The 161.8% extension is the classic extended target for strong trends and the standard wave-3 objective in Elliott-style counts.
  • Use the 61.8% extension as a partial-profit level, especially when it clusters with prior structure.
  • Confluence between an extension of one swing and the retracement of a larger swing marks high-probability reversal/target zones.

Reverse checkbox on/off off Flips the 0 and 1 anchors so the levels are measured in the opposite direction.
Show Coefficients checkbox on/off on Shows the ratio value (e.g. 0.618) in each level’s label.
Show Prices checkbox on/off on Shows the actual price of each level in its label.
Coefficients as % checkbox on/off off Displays level coefficients as percentages (61.8%) instead of ratios (0.618).
Show Trendline checkbox on/off on Draws the base trendline between the two anchor points.
Log Scale Levels checkbox on/off off Computes level prices logarithmically — matches the visual spacing when the price scale is logarithmic.

Editing & managing

  • Move / adjust: drag the drawing or any anchor handle; magnet mode snaps points to OHLC values.
  • Clone / lock / hide / delete from the floating toolbar or right-click menu.
  • Templates: save the current style from the settings dialog and reapply it to new drawings.
  • Every action is undoable (⌘Z / Ctrl+Z).

Watch out for

  • Extensions are targets, not resistance guarantees — in a strong trend price slices through 100% and 161.8% levels, so trail rather than blindly fading them.
