Gann Box

Anchor the box from a major low (or high) to the extreme of the move, then use the internal levels (1/4, 1/2, 3/4) as retracement and target grid.

What it draws

Draws a rectangle over a chosen price-time range and subdivides it with internal horizontal and vertical lines at key ratios (commonly quarters and Gann/fib fractions), often with diagonals. It implements Gann's idea that markets move in proportional relationships between price and time.

How to draw it

  1. Pick Gann Box from the left toolbar (Gann group).
  2. Two points: click one corner (typically the pivot starting the move), then the opposite corner to set the box's price range and time span; internal divisions draw automatically.

How traders use it

  • Anchor the box from a major low (or high) to the extreme of the move, then use the internal levels (1/4, 1/2, 3/4) as retracement and target grid.
  • Watch the box's vertical time divisions for turn timing — reactions often cluster where price divisions and time divisions intersect.
  • The main corner-to-corner diagonal plays the role of the 1x1 balance line: above it price is 'ahead of time', below it 'behind time'.
  • Clone the box forward (same dimensions, next period) to project the completed cycle's proportions onto the next one.

Editing & managing

  • Move / adjust: drag the drawing or any anchor handle; magnet mode snaps points to OHLC values.
  • Clone / lock / hide / delete from the floating toolbar or right-click menu.
  • Templates: save the current style from the settings dialog and reapply it to new drawings.
  • Every action is undoable (⌘Z / Ctrl+Z).

Watch out for

  • The box's meaning depends entirely on anchoring both corners at genuine pivots — a box stretched over an arbitrary range produces an authoritative-looking but meaningless grid.
