Schiff Pitchfork

Reach for it when a standard pitchfork's median line slopes away from price and never gets touched — the Schiff version usually re-engages the swings.

What it draws

A pitchfork variant that shifts the median line's origin halfway toward the second pivot in price, flattening the fork's slope versus the standard Andrews version. It fits corrective or decelerating trends where the classic fork points too steeply.

How to draw it

  1. Pick Schiff Pitchfork from the left toolbar (Pitchforks group).
  2. Three points, same click sequence as a standard pitchfork: the starting pivot, then the next swing high and swing low. The Schiff origin shift is applied automatically.

How traders use it

  • Reach for it when a standard pitchfork's median line slopes away from price and never gets touched — the Schiff version usually re-engages the swings.
  • Trade median pullbacks and tine rejections exactly as with a standard fork, just on the flatter geometry.
  • Use it on retracements and channel corrections within a larger trend, where slopes are gentler than the initial impulse.
  • A break and close beyond the lower tine of an up-sloping Schiff fork is a practical trend-exit signal.

Editing & managing

  • Move / adjust: drag the drawing or any anchor handle; magnet mode snaps points to OHLC values.
  • Clone / lock / hide / delete from the floating toolbar or right-click menu.
  • Templates: save the current style from the settings dialog and reapply it to new drawings.
  • Every action is undoable (⌘Z / Ctrl+Z).

Watch out for

  • With four fork variants available, it is tempting to switch variants until one 'works' — pick the variant price has actually been respecting and stick with it.
