Arrow

Point at the specific candle or level that triggered a trade idea when journaling or sharing charts.

What it draws

Draws a straight line with an arrowhead at its end point, pointing from one chart location to another. It is primarily an annotation tool for highlighting a move, a breakout bar, or an expected path.

How to draw it

  1. Pick Arrow from the left toolbar (Lines group, or press Alt+A).
  2. Two points: click the tail, then the head; the arrowhead appears at the second click. Drag either handle to redirect it.

How traders use it

  • Point at the specific candle or level that triggered a trade idea when journaling or sharing charts.
  • Sketch the expected path of price through a pattern (e.g. into a demand zone, then up) as a visual trade plan.
  • Highlight cause-and-effect sequences, such as a break of structure followed by a retest.
  • Use up/down arrows consistently (e.g. green up, red down) to mark historical entries and exits when reviewing performance.

Settings reference

Double-click the drawing (or use its floating toolbar → gear) to open settings:

Setting Control Possible values Default Effect

[Tab] Visibility checkbox + number range interval buckets: Ticks; Seconds 1–59; Minutes 1–59; Hours 1–24; Days 1–366; Weeks 1–52; Months 1–12; Ranges (each bucket has an on/off checkbox, most also a from–to range) visible on all intervals Per-timeframe visibility rules — untick a bucket to hide the drawing on those chart resolutions, or narrow the from–to range within a bucket.

Editing & managing

  • Move / adjust: drag the drawing or any anchor handle; magnet mode snaps points to OHLC values.
  • Clone / lock / hide / delete from the floating toolbar or right-click menu.
  • Templates: save the current style from the settings dialog and reapply it to new drawings.
  • Every action is undoable (⌘Z / Ctrl+Z).

Watch out for

  • Arrows are commentary, not levels — an arrow drawn after the fact can make any outcome look predicted, so beware hindsight bias in reviews.
