Inside Pitchfork

Use it when price runs along one tine of a normal pitchfork without ever reaching the median — the inside fork recenters the channel on the actual trend.

What it draws

A pitchfork variant that repositions the handle inside the price action between the pivots, producing a tighter fork whose median line hugs the swings more closely. It suits fast, steep trends where the standard Andrews fork sits too far from price.

How to draw it

  1. Pick Inside Pitchfork from the left toolbar (Pitchforks group).
  2. Three points, same sequence as a standard pitchfork: pivot first, then the two subsequent swing extremes. The tool computes the inside-shifted median automatically.

How traders use it

  • Use it when price runs along one tine of a normal pitchfork without ever reaching the median — the inside fork recenters the channel on the actual trend.
  • Trade median-line pullbacks in strong momentum trends where retracements are shallow.
  • Compare it against the standard fork from the same pivots: which one price respects tells you how aggressive the trend is.
  • Use tine breaks as earlier trend-change warnings, since the tighter geometry breaks sooner than an Andrews fork.

Editing & managing

  • Move / adjust: drag the drawing or any anchor handle; magnet mode snaps points to OHLC values.
  • Clone / lock / hide / delete from the floating toolbar or right-click menu.
  • Templates: save the current style from the settings dialog and reapply it to new drawings.
  • Every action is undoable (⌘Z / Ctrl+Z).

Watch out for

  • Its tighter fit means more whipsaw — minor noise crosses the inside fork's lines frequently, so demand closes beyond a line, not just wicks.
