Elliott Triangle Wave (ABCDE)

Use the position rule: a valid triangle usually precedes the last move of the sequence, so expect a terminal thrust after wave E completes.

What it draws

Marks a five-wave contracting (or expanding) triangle labelled A through E, a sideways correction in which each wave is itself a three. Triangles typically appear in wave 4 or wave B positions, immediately before the trend's final leg.

How to draw it

  1. Pick Elliott Triangle Wave (ABCDE) from the left toolbar (Elliott Waves group).
  2. Six anchor points: click the triangle's origin, then the end of each wave A, B, C, D and E in order. The chart connects the alternating pivots and labels them.

How traders use it

  • Use the position rule: a valid triangle usually precedes the last move of the sequence, so expect a terminal thrust after wave E completes.
  • Project the thrust out of the triangle as roughly the height of its widest part (the A wave).
  • Check that each successive wave is smaller than the last in a contracting triangle — overlap without contraction argues against the label.
  • Wave E frequently undershoots or briefly overshoots the boundary line; treat the boundary break after E as the actionable event.

Editing & managing

  • Move / adjust: drag the drawing or any anchor handle; magnet mode snaps points to OHLC values.
  • Clone / lock / hide / delete from the floating toolbar or right-click menu.
  • Templates: save the current style from the settings dialog and reapply it to new drawings.
  • Every action is undoable (⌘Z / Ctrl+Z).

Watch out for

  • Triangles are only confirmed in hindsight — a suspected triangle that breaks the wrong way is usually a mislabelled series of ones and twos.
